As a native of the South Bank long before it became trendy I can see nobody has suggested anywhere which can be described as "locals knowledge"

Decent food/bit more expensive...

The Green Room (behind the National Theatre)
The Wharf Restaurant (near Gabriel's pier)

There's also the Real Greek, just past the Globe.

A bit unoriginal, but there's a Giraffe. I think the food is decent there, but you may have to wait a long time for a table.
